Day 1: Hallowing God's Name
Reading: Matthew 6:9-13, Psalm 111:9
Devotional: As we begin this journey, let's focus on the profound truth Jesus taught us in the Lord's Prayer: "Hallowed be Your name." This isn't just a polite acknowledgment of God's holiness, but a heartfelt desire for His name to be revered in every aspect of our lives. Reflect on how you can honor God's name today - not just in your words, but in your actions, attitudes, and interactions with others. How might your life become a living testimony to God's holiness? Consider ways you can make God's reputation known to those around you through acts of kindness, integrity, and love.
Day 2: God's Revelation of Himself
Reading: Exodus 3:13-15, John 17:6-26
Devotional: Throughout history, God has revealed Himself to humanity in various ways. To Moses, He was the great "I AM." Through Jesus, we see the fullest revelation of God's character. As you read today's passages, meditate on the names and attributes of God mentioned. How has God revealed Himself personally to you? In what ways has your understanding of His character deepened over time? Pray for a fresh revelation of who God is, and ask Him to help you reflect His character more clearly to the world around you.
Day 3: The God Who Provides
Reading: Genesis 22:9-14, Philippians 4:19
Devotional: One of God's revealed names is Jehovah-Jireh, meaning "The Lord Will Provide." This name points to God's nature as our ultimate provider. Reflect on times in your life when God has provided for you - perhaps in unexpected ways. How has this shaped your trust in Him? Consider areas in your life where you might be struggling to trust God's provision. Surrender these concerns to Him today, remembering that He is faithful to meet all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
Day 4: Seeking God's Face, Not Just His Hands
Reading: Psalm 27:8, 2 Chronicles 7:14
Devotional: Often, our prayers can become focused solely on what we want God to do for us. Today's theme challenges us to seek God's face - His presence and character - rather than just His hands. As you read these passages, consider the difference between seeking God for who He is versus what He can give you. How might your prayer life change if you focused more on knowing God intimately? Take time to simply be in God's presence today, adoring Him for who He is, not just for what He does.
Day 5: Living as Witnesses to God's Character
Reading: Matthew 5:14-16, 1 Peter 2:9-12
Devotional: As followers of Christ, we are called to be living testimonies of God's character. Our lives should reflect the goodness, love, and holiness of God to a watching world. Reflect on how your daily life - your words, actions, and attitudes - represents God to others. Are there areas where your witness could be stronger? Ask God to help you live in a way that consistently honors His name and draws others to Him. Remember, you may be the only Bible some people ever read. How can you ensure that your life tells a compelling story of God's love and grace?
