5-Day Devotional: From Milk to Meat Episode 7 From Belief to Faith: Taking the Leap of Trust in God
5-Day Devotional: From Belief to Faith
Day 1: More Than Just Believing
**Reading:** James 2:14-26
**Devotional:**
The demons believe in Jesus and shudder—yet they have no saving faith. This stunning reality reveals that intellectual agreement isn't enough. True faith moves beyond acknowledging facts about God to trusting Him completely with your life. Today, examine your relationship with Christ. Have you simply agreed that Jesus exists, or have you surrendered control to Him? Faith isn't passive acceptance; it's active trust that changes how you live. Like a chair that looks sturdy, belief observes from a distance. Faith sits down, committing your full weight to God's promises. The question isn't whether you believe God can—it's whether you trust Him enough to act on that belief.
Day 2: Walking on Water
**Reading:** Matthew 14:22-33
**Devotional:**
Peter did the impossible because Jesus said, "Come." Everything rational screamed that water wouldn't hold him, yet faith propelled him out of the boat. Notice that Peter didn't walk on his own power—he walked because Jesus called him. Faith isn't pretending natural laws don't exist; it's trusting that God's word supersedes them. Where is Jesus calling you to step out today? What "water" looks impossible to walk on? The moment Peter focused on the wind instead of Jesus, he sank. Faith keeps its eyes fixed on Christ, not circumstances. Your rational mind will always find reasons to stay in the boat. But faith hears one voice above the storm: "Come." Will you step out?
Day 3: The Mustard Seed Mystery
**Reading:** Matthew 17:14-20
**Devotional:**
Jesus said faith the size of a mustard seed—barely visible—can move mountains. This isn't about quantity but quality. A tiny seed of genuine faith, rooted in God's character and promises, contains infinite potential. We often think we need more faith, when actually we need to use the faith we have. Faith isn't a feeling you muster up; it's confident trust in who God is. That microscopic seed doesn't move mountains through its own strength—it taps into God's unlimited power. What mountain faces you today? Stop measuring your faith's size and start exercising it. Speak to that obstacle with the authority Christ has given you. Even mustard-seed faith, when genuine, must be obeyed.
Day 4: The Marriage Covenant of Faith
**Reading:** Hosea 3:1-5
**Devotional:**
Love is a choice, not a feeling. God commanded Hosea to love an unfaithful wife—demonstrating how covenant commitment transcends emotions. Your relationship with God operates the same way. Some mornings you won't "feel" saved. Circumstances may make you question His presence. But feelings are unreliable; God's covenant is ironclad. Just as marriage requires daily choosing your spouse regardless of feelings, faith requires daily choosing to trust God despite doubts. This isn't fake-it-till-you-make-it; it's standing on objective truth when subjective emotions waver. Your salvation doesn't depend on emotional highs. It rests on Christ's finished work and God's unchanging character. Choose today to act in faith, regardless of how you feel.
Day 5: Faith That Pleases God
**Reading:** Hebrews 11:1-6
**Devotional:**
"Without faith it is impossible to please God." This isn't about earning His love—it's about the nature of relationship. Faith believes God exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. It's the difference between knowing about someone and trusting them personally. God isn't asking for blind leaps; He's inviting you into confident trust based on His proven faithfulness. Look at the heroes in Hebrews 11—they didn't have all answers, but they had enough faith to act on God's promises. This week, identify one area where you've been stuck in belief without moving to faith. What actionable step can you take today? Faith without action is dead. Jump—not into uncertainty, but into the arms of a God who has never failed and never will.
---
**Weekly Challenge:** Choose one specific area where you'll move from belief to faith this week. Write it down. Pray over it daily. Then take concrete, actionable steps—however small—to live out that faith. Share your journey with a trusted friend or email the Milk to Meat team at discipleship@cliffviewchurch.org for prayer and encouragement.
